Working In the Round: Tunisian Knit Stitch

The Tunisian Knit Stitch (TKS)

The Tunisian Knit Stitch (TKS) is an essential technique in Tunisian crochet, especially for creating the background of my 3D Fair Isle Tunisian Crochet method. This stitch forms a smooth, knit-like fabric, providing a perfect backdrop for the motifs created with the Tunisian Reverse Stitch.

How to Make the Tunisian Knit Stitch (TKS):

  1. Identify the Vertical Bars:

    • Locate the vertical bars of the stitch you are working on. These are the two vertical strands that make up each stitch.

  2. Insert the Hook:

    • Insert your hook between the front and back vertical bars of the stitch, going through the fabric and coming out the back. It should look like a knitting needle going through a knit stitch.

  3. Yarn Over:

    • Yarn over and pull up a loop. The loop will now be on your hook, sitting in front of your work.

  4. Continue:

    • Repeat the process for each stitch across the row.
